    This is where “Annie” came from. The prosthetic we used to practice mouth to mouth on… CPR in the 70s-90s. My dad worked for the Red Cross on the side and taught First Responders and CPR. We had the one of the pretend victim at our house. Another interesting fact…

    I have some questions on the tools used. I’m thankful for anyone who answers: 1-The black and white pencils, what are they? Charcoal or colored pencils? If charcoal, I wasn’t aware you can put it on top of graphite. 2-What does the brush do that a stump or a handkerchief doesn’t when it comes to softening or blending? 3-Finally. What did he use on the brush when he started the hair? Was it powered charcoal?

    Hi. I just wanted to know, roughly how long did this take you, from start to finish? Also, did you do it from life? I would like to do a cast drawing as well! It is a really nice drawing.

      Hi Daniel. I can't say for sure how long because I don't really keep track-a drawing is done when it's done. I can tell you we spent 8 two-hour sessions on it with our students, but some of that time was spent with Q&A and other things that aren't actual drawing. I may have spent some time on mine outside of those teaching sessions, but I just don't recall how much. Sorry I can't be of more help there. Cast drawing is an exercise that's typically done from life. Since we have this cast at the studio, I was able to refer to it directly. But since we were working with online students who don't have a cast of their own, a photo reference was also involved (the one seen in this video). I used that in order to keep my drawing "in sync" with what students were observing. Hope that helps. David

      @@VitruvianStudioThank you. It is helpful. Yes, I know that “hours tracked” does not define a great drawing or painting, but on the other hand, in my experience too, I get a sense of what can be done in 1 hour, or in 5 hours, or 10 hours plus (perhaps a sense of the level of finish that is needed). So though by no means a rule, what you say here still gives something of a nice guideline. Thanks again.

      @@VitruvianStudio do u use sight_size method or comparative measurement ? I guess sight size before the block-in . In some way we could say block-in is kinda constructive draw to support layering of shadows . It s like building skeleton of a portrait I wonder why in italy in public academies sight size is not teached as in private academies . I like to enlarge my knowledge of draw paint methods . Your videos re great

    • @VitruvianStudio
      @VitruvianStudio 2 місяці тому

      @@gp3798 I don't actually use sight-size. I use comparative measurement and triangulation. I'm not throwing shade at sight-size, though. It's pretty useful. It's just not how I was taught, so it's not what I'm most comfortable with.
